Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with Manchester United and Argentina centre-back Lisandro Martínez.

Details: According to British outlet Topskills Sports UK, dialogue between the Spanish giants and the 28-year-old Argentine’s representatives is at an advanced stage. The player himself is seriously interested in joining Diego Simeone’s compatriot-led side, while the key terms of the personal agreement were successfully settled during a recent meeting between the parties in Madrid.

Despite reaching a compromise over the salary and contract length, Atlético have yet to open direct official negotiations with Manchester United chiefs. The defender’s current contract with the Red Devils runs until the summer of 2027, meaning the Spanish side must agree on an acceptable transfer fee with the Manchester club’s hierarchy.

It is worth noting that Lisandro Martínez has represented Manchester United since moving from Ajax in the summer of 2022. During his time with the English club, he has won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, while also becoming a World Cup winner in Qatar and a two-time Copa América champion with Argentina.
