Cameroon in the running for another continental title. On Tuesday 3 November, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the list of teams in the running for the National Team of the Year award. Crowned African champions at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses are, unsurprisingly, among the contenders.

The Cameroonian side made history by winning the continental trophy for the first time following a remarkable campaign. This achievement could be recognised at the CAF Awards ceremony, scheduled for next December.

But the competition looks set to be fierce for the Cameroonian women. Nine other teams also feature on the list of nominees. Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa are all in the running.

Cameroon can, however, count on its performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which it won.
