RIP. Mourning in Scotland! Legendary Hearts captain Don Murray passes away
Scottish football has suffered an irreparable loss: former Hearts of Edinburgh captain Don Murray has passed away at the age of 80.
Details: The club's press service officially announced the death of the celebrated veteran. Murray spent less than two seasons at Tynecastle, but he left an indelible mark on the team's history, displaying unyielding character and leadership qualities at the dawn of modern Scottish football.
It was the uncompromising play of the iron-hard central defender that helped the Edinburgh side qualify for the inaugural Scottish Premier Division campaign, as well as reach the Scottish Cup final in May 1976. The club's management, his former teammates and loyal supporters have expressed their sincere condolences to the ex-captain's family and loved ones.
It is worth noting that, in addition to his time with Hearts, Don Murray became a true legend at Welsh club Cardiff City, where he played for more than a decade and made over 500 official appearances.
