The English Premier League is considering changing the penalties for clubs that violate financial regulations.

There have been discussions within the league about revising sanctions for Financial Fair Play (FFP) violators following points deductions for Everton and Nottingham Forest. There are concerns that under the current penalty system, top stars of the championship might leave their clubs.

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League executives are contemplating introducing a "luxury tax" similar to the NBA. The proposal suggests penalizing clubs that breach FFP rules with fines. The fine amount would be proportional to the severity of the violation.

The funds collected, potentially totaling tens of millions, would then be redistributed among other Premier League clubs that adhere to the regulations.

It is noted that 17 out of the 20 championship clubs support the introduction of such changes, and the rule could be adopted as early as the end of the current season.

Earlier, it was reported that another English club is facing the removal of points due to violations of FFP rules.
