The former Chelsea defender scored the most bizarre own goal of the MLS season
Yesterday, Cincinnati triumphed at home over St. Louis with a score of 3-1 in the 14th round of the MLS regular season. However, neutral fans will remember this game for St. Louis's solitary goal.
In the 54th minute, Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Chelentano passed to center-back Matt Miazga, who attempted to return the ball to the keeper. However, he did so quickly, catching Chelentano off guard, and the ball ended up in the net.
Miazga, a former Chelsea player, was under contract with the London club from 2016 to 2022. During this time, the American center-back had loan spells at Alaves, Anderlecht, Reading, Vitesse, and Nantes. In the summer of 2022, Miazga joined Cincinnati as a free agent.
For the U.S. national team, Miazga has appeared in 28 matches and scored 1 goal.
Cincinnati currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference after 14 rounds, trailing Inter Miami by two points.
