The historic victory over Tyson Fury in the bout for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion came at a heavy cost for Oleksandr Usyk.

As reported by ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger, Usyk received four stitches above his eye after the fight. Midway through the bout, Fury managed to cut the Ukrainian boxer's eyebrow.

There were also concerns about a potential jaw fracture for Usyk, but these fears were not confirmed.

Usyk defeated Fury by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years.

In October, as per the contract, Fury and Usyk will have a rematch. However, this will be a fight for three belts, as the Ukrainian is set to lose his IBF title, which will then be contested between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois on June 1.
