The legendary right-back Jesús Navas will not leave Sevilla at the end of the season, as previously reported.
The 38-year-old Spaniard has officially signed a lifetime contract with Sevilla! He will play for his hometown club until the end of December this year, after which he will retire and take on an administrative role within the club.
Previously, Jesús Navas publicly stated that the club had not offered him a new contract, and he would be forced to leave and continue his career elsewhere. However, these comments sparked an angry reaction from the club’s fans, prompting Sevilla president José María del Nido Carrasco to ensure that Navas would remain with the club as long as he wishes.
Jesús Navas holds the record for the most appearances for Sevilla. In total, he has played 688 matches for the Nervionenses, scoring 39 goals and providing 119 assists.
This season, Jesús Navas has made 35 appearances across all competitions for the club, contributing two assists.
Sevilla currently sits in 12th place in La Liga. On May 19, the Nervionenses will face Athletic Bilbao.
Additionally, it was announced yesterday that Sevilla has dismissed head coach Quique Sánchez Flores from his position.
