Timo Werner was once hailed as one of Germany's brightest generational talents, showcasing outstanding goal-scoring prowess during his time at Leipzig. However, since his 2020 move to Chelsea, the striker's career has taken a downward trajectory, and he has yet to recapture his previous form.
Despite being only 29 years old, Werner now appears to be considering a switch to MLS—a league typically seen as a destination for players nearing the end of their careers. According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the likelihood of a winter transfer to the United States is growing, with negotiations already underway.
It's worth recalling that Werner was part of Chelsea's ambitious attacking overhaul under Frank Lampard, but he failed to secure a regular starting spot. Loan spells at Tottenham and a return to Leipzig also failed to revive his fortunes. This season, he has seen just a handful of minutes, coming off the bench in the match against Wolfsburg.
