Colombe Sportive secures its place in the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League

Cameroon’s representative in Africa’s most prestigious club competition knocked out Stade Malien on Sunday 13 September in the second leg of the first preliminary round.

Following a 0–0 draw in the first leg in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Colombe Sportive secured their qualification in Bamako, Mali. The reigning Elite One champions prevailed on penalties.

Just as in the first leg, the battle was fierce on 13 September in Bamako. Neither side managed to find the net during normal time. The match therefore ended in a goalless 0–0 draw.

Colombe Sportive and Stade Malien had to resort to a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner. But during this tricky affair, it was the ‘Oiseau du Sud’ who proved the more skilful. The Cameroonians scored four penalties, compared to three for the Malians, who were playing in front of their home crowd.

A fine result for manager Richard Towa and his players, who have now progressed to the second preliminary round of the 2026–2027 CAF Champions League.
