Top priority. Man City preparing improved contract for Rodri

Rodri, one of the pivotal figures for both Spain’s national team and Manchester City, is on the verge of signing a significantly improved contract with the club ahead of the Club World Cup kickoff.
According to the Daily Mirror, the club’s management is prepared to extend the player’s current deal, which runs until the summer of 2027, by an additional two seasons—keeping him at the Etihad until the end of the 2028/29 campaign. What’s more, Rodri’s weekly wage could jump from £200,000 to £300,000, thanks to freed-up funds following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure.
If the deal goes through, Rodri will become the club’s second-highest earner, trailing only Erling Haaland. Negotiations could be wrapped up before the squad jets off to the United States, though there’s a chance the final decision may be postponed until pre-season preparations get underway.
It’s also worth noting that Rodri is already being lined up as a key starter for the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 18 with a clash against Morocco’s Wydad.
