Erling Haaland did not need long to make his mark on another Champions League campaign.

Details: Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has scored his first Champions League goal of the 2026/27 season, finding the net against Porto at the Estádio do Dragão. The Norwegian broke the deadlock after a goalless first half, giving Enzo Maresca's side the advantage in their opening match of the league phase.

Another notable detail was the involvement of Enzo Fernández. The Argentine midfielder provided the assist for Haaland's goal, continuing his impressive start at Manchester City after joining the club at the end of the summer transfer window.

Fernández had already made an impact on his Manchester City debut against Coventry, playing an important role in the move that ended with Haaland scoring the winning goal. Now the pair have combined again, this time on the European stage.

It is worth noting that Haaland entered the Champions League opener after scoring three goals in Manchester City's first three Premier League matches of the season. The Norwegian also scored the winner against Coventry in City's previous game.
