The era of dual leadership is coming to an end! Major changes brewing at Chelsea's helm
The battle for control at Stamford Bridge is nearing an unexpected resolution.
Details: According to Financial Times journalist Samuel Agini, Chelsea shareholders Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are in negotiations to sell their stakes in the club to Clearlake Capital.
The parties are discussing the terms of a potential deal that would allow the California-based fund to consolidate sole control over the London club. In recent months, significant disagreements have emerged between Boehly and Clearlake Capital's leadership regarding management strategy and the team's development direction, pushing the American businessmen toward a possible exit from the project.
It's worth noting that Clearlake Capital, led by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, currently owns 61.54% of Chelsea's shares, while Todd Boehly and Mark Walter each control just under 13%. The BlueCo consortium acquired the London club in the spring of 2022 for £2.5 billion.
