Once again, bad weather is throwing a wrench into the tennis schedule on the courts of Cincinnati.

Details: A torrential downpour hit the combined ATP 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. Organizers were forced to urgently halt all ongoing matches, with players and officials hurrying off the courts. According to the tournament directorate's preliminary estimates, play will not resume for at least the next 45–60 minutes.

The sudden storm put several high-profile singles matches on hold. In particular, play was interrupted between Arthur Fery and Alex De Minaur, Magdalena Frech and Elena Rybakina, Sorana Cirstea and Anna Kalinskaya, as well as Diana Shnaider and Maja Chwalinska. In addition, the delay affected absolutely all doubles encounters as well.

It's worth noting that the Cincinnati tournament is a pivotal stage in the build-up for the world’s top players ahead of the final Grand Slam event of the season—the US Open.

Reminder: WTA makes sex verification mandatory before tournaments. What does it mean?
