Crowned African champions for 2026, the Cameroonian players were given a welcome befitting their achievement upon their return to Cameroon.

The Indomitable Lionesses returned to Cameroon this Monday 17 August following their victory at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Upon landing on Cameroonian soil, the African champions were welcomed as true heroines in Yaounde.

As soon as they landed, the players were surrounded by supporters who had turned out in droves to show their admiration. The streets of the Cameroonian capital were buzzing with excitement. Fans turned out in huge numbers to give the Indomitable Lionesses the welcome they deserved and to celebrate this historic victory with them.

Cameroon beat Malawi on Sunday 16 August in the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to lift the trophy. A first in history for the Indomitable Lionesses.
