Ryan Babel, former Liverpool forward, announces his retirement at the age of 37.
The forward, a product of Ajax’s academy, made his professional debut at just 17 years old during the 2003/04 season. However, he is best remembered by fans for his time at Liverpool. The Merseyside club signed Babel for 18 million euros. The Dutch winger spent three and a half years at Anfield, playing 146 matches and scoring 22 goals.
Babel also played for clubs such as Ajax, Hoffenheim, Beşiktaş, Fulham, and Galatasaray. He was also part of the Netherlands national team that reached the final of the 2010 World Cup.
In his farewell post on social media, Babel expressed gratitude to everyone who was part of his football journey. "Football gave me everything I dreamed of, and even more," he wrote.
