Details: Ronaldo participated in five of Al-Nassr’s opening matches this season, playing the full 90 minutes in four of them. He was only substituted in the 81st minute against Al-Taawoun. However, it was announced today that the Portuguese forward will not travel to Iraq for the first AFC Champions League match due to illness. Al-Nassr shared this news on their Instagram page.
Quote: “Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo is not feeling well today and has been diagnosed with a viral infection. The team doctor confirmed that he needs to rest and stay home.
As a result, he will not be traveling with the team to Iraq today. We wish our captain a speedy recovery,” the club’s statement read.
Reminder: Al-Nassr has not lost any of their first three matches in the Saudi Pro League, but they’ve only won once, currently sitting sixth in the standings with five points.
In the AFC Champions League, Ronaldo and his team will face Iraqi side Al-Shorta, Qatari clubs Al-Rayyan, Al-Gharafa, and Al-Sadd, as well as Iranian teams Esteghlal Tehran and Persepolis, and Arab clubs Al-Ain and Al-Wasl.
