The scandal surrounding Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey’s denied Canadian visa appears to have exposed serious internal issues within the Ghana national team camp.
Details: According to MatchDayCentral, while the country’s government is drafting official protests to Canadian authorities, a genuine mutiny is brewing within the Black Stars themselves. Reports say the head coach’s decision to include the star midfielder in the final World Cup squad was not met with unanimous support from the team.
Some experienced players and high-ranking officials within the Ghana Football Association were initially strongly opposed to Partey traveling to the World Cup.
Their argument was that the midfielder’s protracted legal proceedings in the UK and the serious allegations he faces would bring immense media pressure on the team and disrupt the locker room atmosphere ahead of crucial matches.
Now, with the Canadian authorities officially blocking his entry to the country right before the opening match against Panama, those unhappy within the Ghana squad believe their worst fears are starting to come true.
