Real Madrid's first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has successfully undergone knee surgery, as announced by the club's official website.

According to Spanish media reports, Courtois had a stitch on the inner meniscus of his right knee from a previous surgery that caused a new injury.

It is expected that Courtois will be out for around two to two and a half months. He is anticipated to recover in time for the start of preseason training in August.

Courtois will definitely miss the remainder of this season and the Euro 2024 Championship, where his national team Belgium will play in the same group as Romania, Slovakia, and the winner of the Path B playoffs.

As a reminder, Courtois has been sidelined in the current season due to a cruciate ligament tear in his knee. While he started training with the team, he suffered another injury yesterday.

In Courtois's absence, initially, Kepa Arrizabalaga became Real Madrid's main goalkeeper, who the club loaned from Chelsea. However, later, Andriy Lunin emerged as the preferred choice after winning the competition.
