Infantino surrenders! FIFA president officially abandons the most controversial project

Details: FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered an official statement announcing the withdrawal of the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project. The initiative, aimed at attracting external investment, faced fierce opposition from the football community, prompting the organization’s leadership to abandon its further promotion.

According to Infantino, the project was conceived to strengthen national associations and develop football worldwide, especially in countries in need of additional support. He emphasized that FIFA was ready from the outset to implement the initiative only with broad support from its members.

"After carefully listening to all viewpoints, it became clear that the project sparked disagreements of such a nature that, regardless of the level of support, it no longer aligns with the original goal. Our objective has always been—and will always be—to unite and improve," the FIFA President’s statement reads.

As a result, Infantino has officially confirmed that the proposal will not be implemented. In the coming days and weeks, he plans to hold fresh consultations with the confederations, the FIFA Council, and national associations to continue discussing the future of global football development.

Earlier, the FIFA Forward Enterprise project was publicly opposed by UEFA, CONCACAF, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and several high-ranking football officials. Their stance played a decisive role in forcing FIFA to drop the controversial initiative.
