WAFCON 2026: everything is still open in Group B after Matchday 2
Although Ivory Coast have more points following a win and a draw, Matchday 3 will be decisive.
Matchday 2 in Group B of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Morocco, has delivered its results. The clash between Ivory Coast and South Africa lived up to all expectations.
The Ivorian women got off to a flying start, scoring two goals in the first half. But the Banyana Banyana levelled the score in the second half to make it 2–2. In the second match, Burkina Faso got the better of Tanzania, winning 2–1.
These results have shaken up the standings in Group B. Ivory Coast, who beat Burkina Faso on the opening day, now have 4 points, whilst Tanzania, who had beaten South Africa, have 3 points, level with Burkina Faso. South Africa sit bottom with just 1 point.
As such, even the slightest slip-up on matchday three could prove costly.
Group B standings:
- Ivory Coast - 4 points
- Tanzania - 3 points
- Burkina Faso - 3 points
- South Africa - 1 point
