Wolverhampton have officially announced the appointment of Rob Edwards as the club’s new head coach.
Details: The club statement confirms that the specialist has signed a contract running until June 2029. For Edwards’ transfer, the club paid Middlesbrough a compensation fee of £3 million.
This marks Edwards’ fourth spell with the Wolves. The former defender played for the club from 2004 to 2008, making 111 appearances, and later began his coaching journey here — first working with the youth squad, before stepping in as interim head coach of the senior team.
Club chairman Jeff Shi commented:
"I know Rob very well and I’ve watched him develop at various stages of his career. He has a deep understanding of the club, the city, and our supporters. Now it’s time to refresh Wolves’ philosophy and give the team a new identity — and Rob will be a key figure in this new chapter."
Edwards’ backroom staff will also include Harry Watling, who will serve as assistant head coach. His previous club was also Middlesbrough.
Recall: Wolverhampton had considered Tudor and Motta for the head coach position.
