Burkina Faso striker Bertrand Traoré makes a fresh start at Wolverhampton

The Burkina Faso international has joined on a free transfer.

Having been a free agent since leaving Sunderland this summer, Bertrand Traoré is making a fresh start in the Championship. The 31-year-old Burkinabe winger will represent Wolverhampton during the 2026–2027 season.

Bertrand Traoré has signed a one-season contract with the Wolves. His arrival was officially announced on Monday 7 September.

However, whilst he has Premier League experience, the Burkinabe forward will be playing in the Championship for the first time. This will therefore be a new challenge in England for Bertrand Traoré, who has played for Chelsea, Aston Villa and, more recently, Sunderland.

When his transfer was made official, Bertrand Traoré outlined his ambitions for Wolverhampton.

“It is a big challenge for me. My main goal is to come here, perform and then help the team to get back to the Premier League. I haven’t played much since January because of the injury I got at AFCON, but I played ten games for Sunderland.

Things were out of my control, but everything happens for a reason. I accept the challenge today, you can have a bad season and then get back on track the year after, so that's what I'm looking for, and we will do everything to get back to the Premier League.”
