The Netherlands national team has etched its name into World Cup history. The second goal by striker Brian Brobbey in the match against Sweden (5-1) marked the 100th goal scored by the Oranje at the world’s premier tournament.
With this milestone, the Netherlands have become just the eighth national team in history to break the 100-goal barrier at the World Cup. The Dutch now join an elite club previously made up of only Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, and England.
Currently, the ranking of the highest-scoring national teams in World Cup history is as follows:
- Brazil — 241 goals.
- Germany — 232.
- Argentina — 152.
- Italy — 128.
- France — 127.
- Spain — 110.
- England — 108.
- Netherlands — 103.
