Details: Oranje’s star midfielder Frenkie de Jong will officially be in the starting lineup for the World Cup match, despite serious concerns from the medical team.
Earlier reports suggested that De Jong’s appearance from the opening whistle was highly unlikely following a recent incident in training. The midfielder suffered a tough collision with teammate Quinten Timber, who ended up with a concussion and will definitely miss the clash against Sweden.
Nevertheless, De Jong showed great character, and the medical staff took a calculated risk given the immense importance of the showdown with the Swedes. Frenkie’s physical condition sparked plenty of debate, but Ronald Koeman has decided to start his main star in the center of the pitch from the first minute, counting on his leadership in this battle.
