The Dutch national team has achieved a historic milestone at the World Cup, thrashing Sweden 5-1 in their group stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This victory marked the Oranje’s 14th consecutive unbeaten match at World Cups—a new all-time tournament record. With this feat, the Netherlands have surpassed the legendary Brazil team from the Pelé era (1958–1966), becoming the first national side ever to go 14 consecutive World Cup matches without a single defeat.
The last time the Dutch suffered defeat at the World Cup was back in the final of the 2010 tournament in South Africa, when they lost to Spain in extra time. Since then, the team has remained unbeaten on football’s biggest stage.
