Rayados de Monterrey are reportedly preparing another major move ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup. With the Mexican giants set to face River Plate, Inter Milan, and Urawa Red Diamonds, they are now targeting Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho has emerged as a top priority for Monterrey’s board led by José Antonio Noriega, according to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte. Currently on loan at Vasco da Gama from Aston Villa, the 32-year-old seems unlikely to return to the Premier League, opening the door for a move to Liga MX.
Coutinho has found form again in Brazil, scoring four goals in ten appearances this year. With his vast European experience—spanning Inter, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern, and more—he could bring much-needed creativity to a Monterrey team already stacked with big names like Sergio Ramos and Sergio Canales.
The club’s recent signings show its intent to compete on the global stage. Adding a player of Coutinho’s caliber would not only boost their chances in the Club World Cup but also signal Rayados’ commitment to building a squad worthy of international recognition.
