One of the most high-profile trials in English football in recent times is the case of 115 possible breaches of financial fair-play by Manchester City. But the much coveted Premier League exclusion may not be the only punishment for the Citizens.
Details: According to The Telegraph, if Manchester City plead guilty and are expelled from the Premier League, the club will automatically be excluded from all domestic competitions: the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. At the same time, it remains unknown whether exclusion from the league is grounds for exclusion from the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
But, even if it does not happen automatically, it will be difficult for Manchester City to play only in the Champions League and the Club World Cup, given the pauses between matches.
Reminder: The hearing in this case began on Monday, 16 September. The verdict is not scheduled until the spring of 2025.
