In the coming days, a judicial hearing concerning Manchester City's alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations will commence in England.
Details: English football legend Alan Shearer shared that the trial against "The Citizens" will begin next week. Shearer believes that over the coming weeks, months, or however long it takes, no one will truly know what’s happening behind closed doors.
Quote: "The hearing regarding Man City begins next week, and although last season we saw points deductions for Everton and Forest, recently we saw an independent committee support Leicester’s argument, so I have no idea what will happen with Man City.
I think in the coming weeks, months, or however long it takes, none of us will know what’s happening behind those walls or what the verdict will be, if any," said Shearer.
He added that it’s simply a matter of sitting and waiting. He believes it will take considerable time before a verdict is reached, and there's no point speculating about the outcome.
Reminder: Manchester City's financial situation has been one of the most discussed topics in English football. The club faces accusations of 115 FFP violations.
If proven, the club may be stripped of some Premier League titles, and in the worst case for City, they could be relegated to the Championship.
Last season, Everton and Nottingham Forest faced points deductions due to FFP breaches, although both clubs admitted guilt, while Manchester City continues to deny any wrongdoing.
