Pape Gueye could face sanctions from the Senegalese Football Federation

The governing body of Senegalese football is reportedly considering taking disciplinary action against the midfielder.
Pape Gueye’s comments following the Senegal national team’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup could cost him dearly. After the Lions of Teranga were knocked out by Belgium in the round of 32, the midfielder stated that he would not return to the national team whilst the current coaching staff remained in place.
This stance, which had provoked numerous reactions, is reported not to have been well received by officials at the Senegalese Football Federation. According to the Senegalese press, the governing body is consequently considering imposing a sanction on Pape Gueye.
