‘If we don't win, I'll probably be gone’ - England coach on his future

The England national team will soon play their first match of the 2024 European Championship, and the head coach of the team is uncertain about his future.
As Gareth Southgate himself revealed, if they don't win this tournament, then he probably won't be with the team anymore.
"It might be the last chance. I think about half of the national coaches go after the tournament – that's the nature of international football. I've been here almost eight years, and we're getting close to that," the post reads.
It's worth noting that the 53-year-old English coach took over the England national team in September 2016. Under his leadership, the English team reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup and the semi-finals of the 2018 tournament.
At Euro 2020, which took place in the summer of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the England team reached the final, held at Wembley Stadium in London. In that match, England lost to Italy in a penalty shootout.
By the way, the local football association has no plan in place yet in case the coach is dismissed. While there is a list of candidates within the Three Lions, it is far from finalized.
