Franck Kessie opened the scoring for Ivory Coast against Germany in the World Cup on Saturday 20 June. The Ivorian midfielder found the back of the net in the 30th minute during the second group stage match of the World Cup currently being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
This goal has cemented Kessie’s place in the history of Ivorian football at the World Cup. The midfielder has become the second player from Ivory Coast to find the net on the world stage at the age of 29 years and 183 days. He ranks behind Drogba, who scored at the age of 32 years and 101 days during the 2010 World Cup.
