Ismael Saibari rejects the label of ‘breakout star’ of the 2026 World Cup

The Moroccan international prefers to emphasise the team’s collective effort despite his impressive start to the tournament.

Having scored two goals in two World Cup matches at the tournament being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Ismael Saibari is one of the players attracting increasing attention at the tournament. Nevertheless, the Moroccan refuses to consider himself the revelation of the 2026 World Cup. When asked in the mixed zone, Saibari highlighted the performances of the entire Moroccan team.

“Am I the breakout star of the World Cup? I don’t know. I’m simply trying to help the team, just as each of my team-mates is doing their job. The best moment of my career? Yes, because deep down, it’s a dream I’ve had since I was a little boy: to play in the World Cup for my country.”
