Former England manager Gareth Southgate knighted by Prince William

Former England head coach Gareth Southgate has been knighted for his outstanding services to football, according to the Daily Mail. The Englishman took part in a prestigious ceremony at Windsor Castle.
During the event, Sir Gareth Southgate knelt before Prince William, who performed the knighting. Notably, Gareth becomes the fourth England manager to receive this honor, following in the footsteps of Sir Walter Winterbottom, Sir Alf Ramsey, and Sir Bobby Robson.
"It’s an amazing privilege. I have to say I was more emotional than I thought I would be, but an amazing experience for my whole family today," Southgate said in an interview with Sky Sports after receiving the honor.
Let us recall that Southgate managed the England national team for eight years, from 2016 to 2024. During his tenure, he led the team to two European Championship finals and guided them to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
