Tuchel opposes FIFA innovations. England to challenge new rule ahead of World Cup 2026

The England national team and head coach Thomas Tuchel are preparing to oppose a new FIFA regulation set to take effect at the 2026 World Cup.
Previously, national teams were allowed to select a single permanent base for the duration of the tournament, ensuring comfortable conditions—including for players’ families. However, at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, teams advancing past the group stage will be required to relocate closer to their next match venue and set up a new training camp each time.
According to The Telegraph, Tuchel and the English Football Association are unhappy with this rule change and plan to push for its reversal. Kansas is currently being considered as the main base—its central location allows the squad to reach any stadium in less than four hours.
Tuchel is expected to travel to the United States next week, not only to attend a Club World Cup match, but also to personally assess potential training base locations for the team.
