Brazilian midfielder Oscar, who spent several seasons at Chelsea and represented the national team, recently returned home — but has now been forced to end his career.

Details: According to ESPN Brasil, Oscar has decided to retire from football due to heart problems. He is currently 34 years old.

Oscar signed a five-year contract with Chelsea on 25 July 2012, joining the London club in a £25 million transfer. On 19 May 2013, he won his first trophy with the Blues — the UEFA Europa League.

However, on 23 December 2016, Oscar completed a move to Shanghai Port in a €70 million deal. In the summer of 2025, he returned to Brazil and signed with São Paulo.

We previously reported that the 34-year-old was urgently hospitalised after experiencing discomfort in the chest area. Reports indicated that during a routine medical check before training, he suffered heart-related complications and began to feel unwell.

Reminder: This season, Oscar made only six appearances for São Paulo and did not register a single goal or assist. He had been undergoing rehabilitation following a tibia injury.
