Chelsea and Leeds turned Stamford Bridge into a nine-goal shootout.

Details: Chelsea advanced in the Carabao Cup after an extraordinary 6-3 home victory over Leeds. The evening initially looked disastrous for Xabi Alonso's side: Tarik Muharemovic put the visitors ahead in the first half, before Brenden Aaronson doubled Leeds' advantage shortly after the restart.

Alonso reacted radically at half-time, introducing Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Morgan Rogers and Reece James. Even after Aaronson made it 0-2 in the 48th minute, Chelsea needed only a few minutes to turn the match around. Palmer converted a penalty in the 53rd minute and struck again two minutes later to restore parity.

The comeback then became a rout. Neto put Chelsea ahead in the 60th minute, Danny Welbeck added another five minutes later, and although Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back for Leeds, Valentin Barco restored the two-goal cushion. Welbeck completed his brace in stoppage time and sealed a remarkable 6-3 victory.

Morgan Rogers was one of the key figures after coming off the bench, repeatedly creating danger during Chelsea's explosive second-half spell. It is worth noting that the Blues have now scored 16 goals in their first five competitive matches of the season: three against Fulham, four against Brighton, one against Arsenal, two against Luton and six against Leeds.
