BREAKING! Chelsea vs Leeds kick-off delayed
Chelsea and Leeds United fans will have to wait a little longer for the opening whistle at Stamford Bridge.
Details: The kick-off in the Carabao Cup clash between Chelsea and Leeds United has been pushed back by 15 minutes. The match was originally scheduled to begin at 21:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST), but the opening whistle will now sound at 21:15 CEST. Chelsea had previously officially confirmed an 20:00 local-time kick-off in London, with the fixture taking place at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, September 9.
The adjustment is minor and does not change the date or venue of the fixture. The two English sides are still set to battle at Stamford Bridge for a place in the next round of the League Cup.
Both clubs entered this season's competition in the previous round and progressed without conceding. Chelsea defeated Luton 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, while Leeds recorded the same scoreline away against Nottingham Forest.
The meeting comes only a few days after Chelsea's first Premier League defeat of the new campaign. Xabi Alonso's team lost 2-1 away to Arsenal after previously beating Fulham and Brighton in their opening two league fixtures.
It is worth noting that Chelsea have scored inside the opening five minutes in each of their first three Premier League matches this season, becoming the first team in the competition's history to achieve that feat at the start of a campaign.
Reminder: Xabi Alonso effect! Chelsea make Premier League history
