What a comeback! Chelsea turn the game against Leeds around in eight minutes
Chelsea have produced a remarkable second-half response at Stamford Bridge.
Details: Xabi Alonso's side found themselves in serious trouble in their League Cup third-round clash with Leeds. Tarik Muharemovic opened the scoring for the visitors in the 23rd minute, and shortly after the restart Brenden Aaronson doubled Leeds' advantage to make it 0-2.
That second goal only woke Chelsea up. Cole Palmer, who came on at half-time, pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute and struck again just two minutes later to make it 2-2. The Blues continued to pile on the pressure and completed an extraordinary turnaround, going from 0-2 down to taking the lead in the space of only eight minutes.
Chelsea did not stop there. At the time of writing, the London side are already leading 4-2, having completely transformed a match that looked to be slipping away from them at the start of the second half. Alonso made several changes during the interval, with Palmer among the players introduced, and those substitutions immediately changed the momentum of the game.
It is worth noting that Chelsea have won the League Cup five times in their history, although their most recent triumph in the competition came back in 2015.
