France defeated Morocco 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Les Bleus head coach Didier Deschamps writing a new chapter in French football history.
Details: According to The Touchline, Deschamps has become the first French manager in history to lead the national team to three FIFA World Cup semi-finals. Even more impressively, he has achieved the feat in three consecutive tournaments: 2018, 2022, and 2026.
He has also become only the second manager in football history to accomplish this with any national team. The only other coach to reach three consecutive World Cup semi-finals was Helmut Schön, who guided West Germany to the last four between the 1966 and 1974 World Cups.
Reminder: France and Morocco are facing off in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and although a penalty was awarded midway through the first half, questions have since been raised over whether the incident involved simulation.
