The captain of Egypt’s Pharaohs acknowledged the disappointment surrounding this World Cup campaign, but called for unity and confidence.
Egypt were disappointingly knocked out of the 2026 World Cup by Argentina in the round of 16. It was an elimination that frustrated many supporters, despite the historic run by Mohamed Salah and his team-mates.
But in a statement on social media, Salah acknowledged the frustration of Egyptian supporters. He pledged to do everything in his power to help the national team reach new heights on the international stage.
“I know you’re still angry, but I promise I’ll do everything in my power to ensure this marks a new beginning for Egyptian football on the international stage. Qualifying for the World Cup won’t be enough, nor will simply taking part. This team deserves your trust.”
