Morocco were knocked out by France in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but one of the African side's key players still managed to equal an extraordinary record.
Details: According to Opta, across the last two FIFA World Cup tournaments, Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi has completed more than 20 successful dribbles and won possession over 20 times. The only other player to reach those figures is Lionel Messi.
Meanwhile, Didier Deschamps became the first French manager in history to guide the national team to three FIFA World Cup semi-finals. Even more impressively, he achieved the feat in three consecutive tournaments: 2018, 2022, and 2026.
Reminder: France and Morocco are facing off in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and although a penalty was awarded midway through the first half, questions have since been raised over whether the incident involved simulation.
