It all comes down to history.
Details: After Haiti’s national team unveiled the official kit they’ll wear at the World Cup, fans noticed a rather intriguing design—depicting a person holding the Polish flag.
At first, many thought it was a designer’s error, simply mixing up the flags. But the story is far more complex.
The truth is, there’s a deep bond between Haiti and Poland, forged centuries ago. Back in 1802, Napoleon sent thousands of Polish legionnaires to the island to suppress the Haitian slave uprising.
However, the Polish soldiers refused to fight against the Haitians, who were simply struggling for their freedom. Instead, they joined their ranks and fought side by side against the French army.
By featuring the Polish flag, Haiti’s national team is once again expressing gratitude to Poland for their support during a tumultuous period.
