Cardiff demand €120m compensation from Nantes for Sala's death

On January 21, 2019, one of the most tragic events in modern football occurred. During a flight across the English Channel, striker Emiliano Sala, who was transferring from Nantes to Cardiff City, tragically lost his life in a plane crash. However, the two clubs have yet to resolve the financial dispute stemming from the transfer.
Details: According to L'Equipe, Cardiff is demanding compensation from Nantes in the amount of €120 million, despite having paid €17 million for the Argentine forward’s transfer.
The Welsh club consulted experts to assess the likelihood that Cardiff City would have remained in the Premier League in 2019 had Sala not died in the tragic accident. Based on these assessments, the club calculated their losses at €120 million.
Reminder: Earlier, there were reports suggesting that Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold could become the new owner of Nantes. However, these rumors were later denied by current Nantes owner Waldemar Kita.
