Abramovich not interested in any football club role, but he would like to bid farewell to Chelsea

Since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Roman Abramovich was stripped of ownership of London’s Chelsea. The Blues’ fans have been urging the Russian oligarch to return to Stamford Bridge, but it appears that this is unlikely to happen.
Details: In Nick Purewal’s book “Sanctioned,” Abramovich revealed that he is no longer interested in holding any executive position at a football club, though he would be open to supporting academies. As for Chelsea, the oligarch said he would like the chance to say a proper goodbye to the club.
Quote: “Maybe one day the opportunity will arise to attend a match and say a proper farewell, but nothing beyond that. I am not interested in any role at a football club, especially not a professional one. Perhaps I could help with academy work and youth development, offering more opportunities to people from challenging backgrounds, if there is an initiative that can truly make a difference. But as for club ownership or any professional role — for me, that chapter is closed in this life,” Abramovich stated.
Reminder: Earlier, it was reported that the UK government intends to take legal action to claim £2.4 billion from Abramovich following the sale of the club in March 2022. These funds are expected to be allocated for humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
