Chelsea have turned their attention to one of the most high-profile midfielders at Anfield.

Details: According to Football Insider, Chelsea have set their sights on Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister amid uncertainty surrounding his long-term future. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told the outlet that the London club are among the sides alerted to the Argentine's situation.

Mac Allister has publicly expressed his disappointment at not being offered a new Liverpool contract. The 27-year-old still has two years remaining on his current agreement, meaning the Merseyside club are under no immediate pressure to sell, but the delay over fresh terms has fuelled speculation about his future.

Chelsea's interest comes as the club look to reinforce the centre of midfield following Enzo Fernandez's departure. Chelsea officially confirmed on September 1 that the Argentine had completed a permanent transfer to Manchester City, leaving the Blues searching for additional options in that area of the pitch.

Football Insider reports that a January move for Mac Allister cannot be ruled out. However, there is currently no indication that Chelsea and Liverpool have reached an agreement or opened advanced negotiations, and the midfielder remains a Liverpool player under contract until 2028.

It is worth noting that Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton in the summer of 2023. During his spell at Anfield, the Argentina international has already won the League Cup and the Premier League.
