Nice players took to the pitch for their Ligue 1 Matchday 15 clash against Angers wearing shirts emblazoned with the names of Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga, who were attacked and beaten by their own ultras just a week ago.
Details: Both forwards are missing the match and are currently on medical leave following the assault. The incident took place as the team was returning from Lorient: Moffi and Boga were struck and suffered significant psychological trauma. According to RMC, both players are now unwilling to play for the club, despite having contracts running through 2027.
The atmosphere at the stadium was tense from the opening whistle: Nice players walked out to a chorus of boos. Although the official attendance was listed at 17,500, many season ticket holders boycotted the match in protest of recent events. Those who did show up responded to the team's poor play with sarcastic applause.
Club president Fabrice Bocquet admitted that Moffi and Boga's future at Nice is now in serious doubt:
"Honestly, I don't know if they will stay. They've suffered a lot. Right now, they're on medical leave, and we'll look into things after that. I fully support them. We'll see how the situation develops," he told RMC.
At the moment, Nice sit 12th in Ligue 1 with just 17 points—a disappointing return for a club of their stature.
Reminder: Nice ultras deny any violence against club players Moffi and Boga.
