The coaching carousel in France’s Ligue 1 shows no signs of slowing down.
Details: According to Foot Mercato, French side Lille has reached a full agreement with Italian coach Davide Ancelotti. The son and long-time assistant of the legendary Carlo Ancelotti is ready to step out of his famous father’s shadow and launch an independent managerial career in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Reports suggest the 36-year-old Italian will officially succeed Bruno Génésio as head coach of Les Dogues. Génésio left the club at the end of the season, leaving the managerial seat vacant for a team set to compete in the Champions League next campaign. Lille’s management, led by Olivier Létang, has placed a bold bet on the young tactician, whose résumé includes stints at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
The parties are finalizing the last formalities, and the club is preparing to issue an official press release.
It’s worth noting that the only club he has previously managed as head coach was Brazil’s Botafogo.
Recall: Earlier, it was reported that Thiago Motta could take the helm at Lille.
