Ziyech spent the previous season in Morocco after joining Wydad in 2025. His departure from the Casablanca club made him available without a transfer fee, opening the door for Botafogo to bring one of Morocco's most recognizable players to Brazilian football.
The winger built his reputation in Europe with Ajax, where he was one of the key figures in the Amsterdam side's run to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season. He later moved to Chelsea and was part of the squad that won the Champions League in the 2020/21 campaign.
Ziyech has also represented Galatasaray and Al-Duhail during his career. At international level, he was part of the Morocco team that made history by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and eventually finishing fourth.
It is worth noting that Ziyech made 16 appearances for Wydad in all competitions last season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.
