Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti Clash in Search of First Gold Cup Victory

The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup continues Thursday with a critical Group D match between Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. As reported by Concacaf.com, both teams are looking for their first win of the tournament after opening-round losses.
This will be only the second meeting between the Caribbean rivals in Gold Cup history. The first came in 2013, when Haiti won 2–0 with a brace from Jean-Eudes Maurice. Their most recent matchup was a thrilling 4–3 win for Haiti in the 2017 Caribbean Cup qualifiers.
Haiti narrowly lost 1–0 to Saudi Arabia in their opener, with goalkeeper Johny Placide making three crucial saves to keep the deficit manageable. Trinidad and Tobago endured a heavy loss to the United States, managing just two shots on target through Tyrese Spicer and Nathaniel James.
Historically, the rivalry is nearly even. Trinidad and Tobago leads with 15 wins, Haiti follows closely with 14, and there have been two draws in their 31 meetings. With both teams desperate for points, Thursday’s clash could prove pivotal for their hopes of advancing.
