Daniel Maldini hospitalised just hours after scoring the winning goal against Atalanta. What happened?
Cagliari forward Daniel Maldini was involved in a road accident in Milan in the early hours of 13 September. The footballer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fatebenefratelli Hospital for further examination. No serious injuries were found, ANSA reports.
The accident happened at around 5:15am on Via Caracciolo in northern Milan. Two cars were involved in the collision, with six people injured: two women aged 20 and 22, three men aged 19, 20 and 21, as well as Maldini. Three ambulances and a support vehicle arrived at the scene.
One of those injured was treated at the scene, while the other five, including Maldini, were taken to hospital for medical examinations. All six avoided serious injuries. Local authorities are still establishing the cause and circumstances of the accident.
It is worth noting that the incident occurred just a few hours after Maldini's impressive performance on the pitch. On Saturday, the footballer scored the winning penalty in the Serie A match against Atalanta, which ended 2-1 in Cagliari's favour.
